About Splintery

As a stay at home mom of two beautiful boys, I was looking to find some job I could do from home that would allow me the flexibility and time to still take care of my house and kids.  I considered many options but none of them were the right fit for me or didn’t worked out.

One day I learned about e-commerce, and the possibility to sell on etsy and other marketplaces, without big upfront investments.  This idea sparked my interest and I spent a lot of time researching options, but yet I wasn’t sure what could I sell…

So one night I was looking online, without success, for a t-shirt or something to get for my older kid who is autistic and hyperlexic.  He has challenges, especially in communication, but his mind is like a sponge! He learned to read before he could talk, and now he loves learning about anything that has to do with letters and numbers. He loves math and geography, astronomy and foreign languages and of course all styles of logos!  This has become a source of fun and joy in our house, because I love to learn new things too, I love languages and astronomy and science.  Dad also shares this passion for learning.

So that is how the idea of selling apparel for anyone who enjoys these topics sunk in my brain and blended with the concept of e-commerce.  Hyperlexia is sometimes called a splinter skill.  This concept of something that breaks the mold and doesn’t follow the same direction as everybody else, gave life to the brand Splintery.

We love geeky stuff, we smile when we see a sarcastic or nerdy quote printed on a t-shirt and we are very passionate about our focus interests that could go from science, to techie and gaming stuff, to obsession about logos.
